Reveley bullish about Rigoureux

Sep 2010

France-based James Reveley believes Rigoureux can give him victory in this year's Gran Premio Merano.

Rigoureux is trained by Guillaume Macaire, responsible for the 2003 winner Tempo d'Or and is one of 12 declared for the three mile and 193 yards contest.

Reveley, who is now enjoying his fourth summer in France riding for trainer Guillaume Macaire, told www.cdhorseracingtours.com: "Rigoureux has won his last two races and he goes into the race spot-on. Fitness won't be a problem and I certainly rate him as the best horse in the race. Alarm Call is a very good horse, he would be the biggest danger if handling the track and fences."

Reveley added: "The course suits Rigoureux and he has won twice there before - winning the prep race for Sunday's race a couple of years ago, but he then got a leg. I rode him to victory in the Grand Steeple Chase d'Europa here in June and he gave me a great ride.

"Rigoureux then had a break and I next won on him in his final prep-race in Switzerland, where he won really well. His jumping won't be a problem and I'm looking forward to the race," concluded Reveley.
